NORTHAMPTON TOWN WOMEN MANAGEMENT DUO DELIGHTED TO END SEASON WITH A VICTORY

Reaction to Sunday's game at Sixfields

6 May 2024

Northampton Town Women joint-managers Josh Oldfield and Liam Williams were delighted with their side’s 4-0 win at home to Notts County in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands on Sunday.

Jade Bell scored a hat-trick and Kim Farrow netted the Cobblers’ other goal as they earned a victory in front of a new record attendance at Sixfields Stadium on the final day of the season.

“It was always going to be a difficult game for us because they needed to win to give them the best chance of staying up,” Oldfield said.

“All week we made sure that the girls had the hunger and desire to win today.

“It’s really pleasing to have kept a clean sheet on the last day of the season.

“We limited them to very few chances, and you’re going to win games when you’ve got the players at the top end of the pitch that can hurt teams like we have.

“We were well worth the win, and credit to the girls for the quality they showed.”

1,098 supporters attended the fixture at Sixfields, and Williams hopes that they will be inspired to return after the summer break.

“We love playing here, and we can’t thank everyone at the club enough for making it happen throughout the season,” he added.

“There were lots of girls representing local teams here today, and it was a nice family occasion.

“There were also lots of new faces, and we really hope they keep coming back.

“Hopefully performances like today’s will help with that!”
